Je Suis Comme Je Suis

‘Je Suis Comme Je Suis’ celebrates body hair and explores the importance of young female empowerment. This original photograph, illustrating a young woman who is free and comfortable in expressing her underarm body hair, challenges society's stigma that body hair is ‘ugly’, thus, highlighting that body hair is a natural component of our bodies and is both beautiful and empowering for young women today. The discourse around gender and feminism is on a rise now, where more and more individuals are gaining confidence and authority over their own bodies and choose to stand against the stigmas and political bias that has been set out throughout the world. This photograph aims to demonstrate how body hair can be used to empower women and inspire those who identify as female into developing a strong and dignified approach to the world ahead of them.
