AI Perceptions of 'Bodily Autonomy'
These images were created using Midjourney's artificial intelligence, which generates entirely novel images from text prompts. I used the prompt 'bodily autonomy'.
Text-to-image AIs are biased because they are trained using images from the internet; for example, the prompt, 'nurse', will overwhelmingly generate images featuring what are recognisable as women. Although this can be an issue, it also means that one can derive insight from AI-generated images about how concepts are collectively defined, or at least represented.
